Highland logistics company M&H Carriers has been named Employer of the Year at the 2026 Scottish Business of the Year Awards, reports Peter Brown.

M&H Carriers received the award in recognition of its investment in people, inclusive workplace culture and commitment to supporting long-term careers across the business.

The award comes after a significant period of growth, but M&H Carriers’ focus on people has remained central. Women now hold 50% of senior management roles, young people are being supported into the logistics industry, and tailored support is in place for neurodiverse and disabled colleagues across depot-based roles.

Managing director Fraser MacLean said: “Employer of the Year is one of the proudest awards we could win because it recognises the people who keep this business moving. Our team works across some of Scotland’s most challenging routes and communities every day, and this award belongs to every one of them.”

The company is set to reach 500 employees across hubs in Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee, Argyll and Perth, supported by 14 satellite depots, delivering to locations ranging from city centres to rural communities and island destinations.

The company has also invested £2 million in fleet expansion and launched its bespoke Parcel Master delivery platform in just 60 days, increasing parcel-handling capacity from around 15,000 to 25,000 items per day.

Last year, Transport News ran two articles exploring how M&H Carriers is addressing employee shortages by embracing disabled and neurodivergent staff.

In the first article (see link: Transport News August 2025), freelance journalist Jack Carfrae looked at how M&H Carriers took on John Montgomery, a warehouse night supervisor at the company’s Elgin site who is deaf.

The second saw Jack spoke with Josh, a forklift driver, and Bailey, an HGV driver. Both are autistic and in their 20s, and both are suited to the regularity of the haulage industry.
