Isuzu has signed a partnership agreement with World Rugby to become the official automotive partner of the men’s Rugby World Cup 2027 and the women’s Rugby World Cup 2029, both of which will be staged in Australia.

The agreement will give the manufacturer an international platform to promote its truck and pickup ranges, alongside its wider commercial vehicle operations.

Isuzu is also exploring opportunities to supply vehicles and transport support for the 2029 women’s tournament, including the movement of participating teams and event personnel. Details of its involvement have yet to be confirmed.

The partnership supports Isuzu’s strategy to expand beyond vehicle manufacturing and develop its position as a commercial mobility solutions provider.

The 2027 men’s tournament will coincide with the company’s 90th anniversary.

Naohiro Yamaguchi, president and chief executive of Isuzu Motors, said: “We are deeply honoured to become a partner of the Rugby World Cup, an event that inspires people around the world, and to have the opportunity to showcase our journey towards becoming a commercial mobility solutions company on the global stage.”

Michel Poussau, chief revenue officer at World Rugby, said the partnership would support the sport’s continued international growth.

“As rugby enters an exciting new era of growth and global reach, partnerships with world-class organisations such as Isuzu are helping us unlock new opportunities for the sport and our fans,” he said.

Isuzu plans to use both tournaments to strengthen its global brand presence and demonstrate its expanding commercial mobility offering.
