The British Crane Truck Operator Challenge returns for a second year to find the country’s most skilled crane truck operator, writes Peter Brown.
Organised and run by Huddersfield-based Mac’s Truck Group, the competition returns on 5 September, where operators will face a series of challenges that tests precision, control, accuracy, and the ability to keep a cool head when the pressure is on.
The event is open to anyone confident enough to put their crane-operating skills to the ultimate test. And with a bigger prize fund, redesigned challenges and a packed programme of activities for competitors, industry professionals and their families, there is plenty at stake.
The new challenges have been developed using feedback from last year’s competitors and are designed to replicate the levels of skill, concentration and operational control required in real-world crane operations.
There is also a decent incentive to keep the nerves under control. The winner will pocket £1,500, with £1,000 for second place and £500 for third.
Last year, Daniel Broda claimed the inaugural title, also known as Mac’s Crane Operator of the Year.
Hosted by Mac’s Truck Sales at its Huddersfield facility, the competition put operators through their paces on accuracy, speed and precision using the latest Fassi loader cranes.
