Tarmac and TIP have teamed up to launch a Pride-themed powder tanker, taking a message of inclusion across the UK and encouraging open conversations about diversity and belonging in the road transport industry, writes Peter Brown.
The powder tanker will support Tarmac’s logistics operations nationwide, using its distinctive livery to promote a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected and able to be themselves.
The initiative reflects a shared commitment by the two businesses to supporting LGBTQ+ colleagues and allies, while recognising the different experiences and backgrounds within their workforces.
Since the tanker’s unveiling, colleagues from both organisations have shared personal experiences and discussed what Pride means to them.
The conversations have highlighted the value of creating an environment where employees feel comfortable speaking openly, sharing their experiences and supporting one another.
Richard Buggins, national logistics manager at Tarmac, said: “We’ve worked with TIP for 15 years, so there’s a real strength to the relationship between our two businesses.
“It’s been particularly rewarding to see that partnership come through in something that has generated such positive conversations among our people. The stories colleagues have shared have shown just how much these initiatives can mean, and it’s been great to see everyone coming together to support it.”
David George, strategic accounts manager at TIP, said: “It’s been fantastic to see the reaction from colleagues since the tanker was introduced.
“People have been willing to show their own experiences and talk openly about what Pride means to them, which has made the project feel much more personal. It’s been great to see that response from both TIP and Tarmac colleagues and to see people getting behind the initiative.”
