ARGOS is ramping up its home delivery service in the Scottish Islands allowing buyers to order large items, from furniture to fridges, and have them delivered on a day of their choice.
The six-month trial is to ensure those living in remotest corners of the UK can get the products they want directly to their home and at delivery prices that match the rest of the UK, the retailer said.
Laurence Garnett, head of supply chain and logistics strategy at Sainsbury’s said: ‘This trial will mean that whether shoppers are in Shetland or the Western Isles, they can choose from around 20,000 products and get them delivered quickly and conveniently.’
Responsibility for the last mile delivery will be that of the two-person distribution company ArrowXL.
