DVSA will take bookings for roadworthiness tests for lorries and trailers from Saturday 4 July.
The deadline to get a test depends on when the MOT was originally due before lorries and trailers were given a three-month exemption as tests were suspended because of COVID-19.
How the exemptions work
If first due in March or April – granted two 3-month exemptions (effectively six months)
If first due in May, June, July or August – granted one 3-month exemption.
DVSA urges hauliers to anticipate a reduced capacity when testing resumes. It’s worth noting that DVSA has a test backlog of more than 100,000 vehicles.
