TRANSPORT Scotland’s road network maintainer AMEY is drawing up plans to introduce weather related diversions for HGVs and high sided vehicles on the A1, between Dunbar and Haddington, following a number of incidents in which lorries have been blown over on the exposed Tyne Bridge during high winds.
The diversions will be introduced from Thistly Cross Roundabout at Dunbar to Haddington and trucks will require to use the old A1 and A199 when winds are recorded above 50 miles an hour.
AMEY says the diversion is a near parallel single carriage route which is the same length as the 8.5 miles section of the A1 from which the trucks would be diverted.
