Local authorities have given the green light for more new commercial vehicle parking spaces at a service station in Kent.
The RHA supported an application from Roadchef to add extra parking capacity to their premises at Junction 8 on the M20, the kind of joint working made possible through the industry-led HGV Parking Task and Finish Group.
Maidstone Council provisionally approved the bid for 51 new HGV parking spaces (subject to a S106 agreement).
Plans also include a proposed dedicated parking area for seven coaches.
Ashton Cull, RHA senior public affairs lead, said: “This is fantastic news for lorry and coach drivers and a great success for industry efforts to secure more facilities.
“Tackling the chronic shortage of safe and secure parking is a key RHA priority.”
RHA instigated the HGV Parking Task and Finish Group which is supported by DfT.
