The police said they’d be prosecuting lorry drivers caught on camera jumping queues on the M6 following a 10-vehicle road traffic just north of Preston, writes Chris Tindall.
An HGV travelling northbound near junction 33 in Lancashire crossed onto the southbound carriageway on Wednesday (6 November) and collided with several other vehicles.
The driver of the HGV was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other people, the driver of a Ford Transit, a man in his 40s, and the driver of a Suzuki Swift, a woman in her 40s, suffered serious injuries. Three other people also suffered injuries.
Lancashire police said a total of 10 vehicles were involved in the collision.
In a post on social media platform X, Lancashire roads policing unit said: “Following the collision on the M6 yesterday and the subsequent closures between junc. 33 & 32 we understand drivers had to sit in significant delays, thank you for your patience.
“Lancs CVU will be prosecuting the HGV drivers captured on camera using lane 3 to jump the queues.”
Supt Hassan Khan, of Lancashire Constabulary’s operations department, said: “My thoughts first and foremost are with the loved ones of the driver who sadly died and with all those affected by this tragic incident. Our investigation into what caused this collision is ongoing.”
