DECARBONISING road transport remains a challenge at whatever size of vehicle you choose. Will battery technology develop fast enough to make hydrogen fuel cells for powering long distance vehicles unnecessary? How easy will it be for van fleets to transition to electric power?
The answer to the second question is that it’s currently challenging. If you are running vans on local deliveries the transition to electric vehicles looks like a sensible move, but for bigger vans covering longer distances, electric power is not yet an automatic answer.
