Delivering animals and feed has kept livestock haulier Barclay’s Transport busy through a turbulent time for the agricultural sector, explains Ronald Davidson, as he talks to Kevin Swallow about investment and significant milestones.
IT HAS been 15 months since John Henderson visited Barclays Transport. Since then (TN, October 2021), the Portsoy firm has been through a notable landmark; last year was the 25 year anniversary with siblings Ronald and Elma Davidson at the helm of a business fast approaching its 90th year (see sidebar).
While acknowledging the milestone both have their minds firmly fixed on current affairs. Ronald has continued with a robust fleet investment; last year he told Transport News that he had ordered four new DAF XF tractor units from local DAF Trucks dealer Norscot Truck & Van.
He would ‘stick with the tried and trusted, current XF model for their 2021 and 2022 fleet replacements’ and that he would give the new XF and XG trucks ‘time to prove themselves before he orders them’.
