EUROPA Worldwide Group has signed a deal to double its current space at Eurocentral in Glasgow, one of Scotland’s largest industrial and logistics hubs.
The global operator recently reported a record turnover of £316m for the last 12 months. It has ambitious plans for continued investment and believes improving logistics capacity and capabilities for a growing number of businesses will help them navigate a changing marketplace.
Thirteen new jobs will be created at the firm’s Lanarkshire base over the coming year, which has seen it secure extra capacity with a further 1,776sq.ft of office space. This comes in addition to a new three-year lease arrangement agreed on the existing area Europa currently occupies at Maxim Park.
Scotland’s ‘A Trading Nation’ strategy sets out an ambitious target to bolster international exports to comprise 25% or £3.5bn of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) over the next decade to support some 17,500 jobs. The latest data shows despite the shifting climate, Scotland remains on target to achieve this goal, and is actually outperforming the rest of the UK with a 5.7% export increase.
Adrian Redmile, branch and sales director, explained: “Scotland is committed to developing its transport infrastructure network. That’s why we want to expand in the region.
“Eurocentral is currently Europa’s only branch in Scotland and sits in a strategically important gateway location in Glasgow, within close proximity to an interconnected road, rail and airport system.
“Our decision to double the Glasgow team, and to invest in more office space, forms part of our plans to strengthen and grow our client portfolio across Scotland.”
A 12 strong team, working under the firm’s European road transport division, Europa Road, currently operates at Eurocentral, led by a new sales branch manager Elisa Elder.
Elisa will be supported by Hayley Callachan who has recently moved into the newly created position of customer service branch manager.
