The overnight allowance scheme for lorry drivers will continue HMRC has confirmed, and it will also review the amount allowed under the scheme.
Currently the overnight allowance rate is £26.20, which has been in place for more than 10 years.
The RHA said it had successfully lobbied HMRC for both, and it is now sampling members about increasing the rate in line with costs.
Sally Gilson, RHA policy lead for skills and drivers, said: “Given the increase costs being incurred by drivers for food, showers and other facilities whilst out on the road, we welcome the news that HMRC will review the allowance.”
