A new free-to-use website to support lorry drivers struggling with their mental health has been launched by HGV Networking Group.
DriverWell is a free mental health platform built for HGV drivers, by people who understand the road, explained HGV Networking Group founder Peter McKenna.
“With long hours, the isolation and the pressure of the job, it’s fair to say the mental health challenges facing our drivers are real, and for too long they’ve gone unspoken,” he said.
“It’s completely free and anonymous, and is built for the people who keep our nation moving.”
Drivers accessing DriverWell can follow guided procedures to help them relax, connect anonymously with fellow drivers and access crisis support.
“Drivers can also learn about stress, PTSD, burnout, and how to spot the warning signs,” he added. “If you know a driver who could benefit, please share this post. Sometimes knowing help exists is the first step.”
Although it has been set up by HGV Networking Group, a tiered sponsorship programme is available to help support the project. Peter added: “Every donation goes directly towards maintaining and improving the platform, keeping it free for every driver, every mile, every day.
“This isn’t just corporate social responsibility; it is an investment in your workforce. Healthier drivers mean safer roads, lower turnover, and stronger businesses.
“The transport industry loses drivers every year to mental health crises that could have been prevented, and sponsorship helps change that.”
