The final gaps in DAF Trucks’ electric line-up have been filled with the launch of a new range of multi-axle models, including a 6×2 tractor unit, writes Peter Brown.

DAF’s fully electric range now spans 6×2, 6×4 and 8×4 tractor and rigid configurations, enabling the manufacturer to offer a ‘tailor-made zero-emission solution for every application’.

With the addition of the 6×2 tractor, DAF joins Renault Trucks and Volvo in offering this configuration in electric form.

The new FTG (pictured) and FTN electric tractors are available with either a steered or pusher mid-axle, or a steered tag axle, across the XD, XF, XG and XG+ ranges. Both are powered by the Paccar EX-D2 electric motor, with outputs from 270 to 350kW.

The FTG comes standard with three battery packs, while the FTN offers a choice of three, four or five packs, delivering a zero-emission range of more than 500km on a single charge.

For multi-axle rigids, DAF has introduced the FAT and FAW Electric in 6×4 and 8×4 double-drive configurations. These models are available across the XD, XF, XG and XG+ ranges with either the Paccar EX-D1 or EX-D2 e-motors, and a choice of three, four or five battery packs. The FAT 6×4 is also offered in XDC and XFC variants.

Completing the line-up is the FAS Electric 6×2 rigid with a tag axle, offering a gross vehicle weight of up to 28 tonnes. It is available in XD, XF, XG and XG+ guises, with three to five battery packs and Paccar EX-D1 or EX-D2 motors delivering outputs from 170 to 350kW.

DAF’s programme of fully electric rigids now has 6×2 models with a steered pusher (FAG) or a steered trailing axle (FAN). Specifically for applications that require a high static payload, DAF is now introducing the electric 6×2 FAS rigid with a GVW of up to 28 tonnes (image DAF Trucks).

The fully electric FAT and FAW rigids can be equipped with both PACCAR EX-D1 and PACCAR EX-D2 e-motors. There is also a choice of three, four or five battery packs. (image DAF Trucks).
