In the current Transport News Industry Bulletin, Claudia Lee covers the latest activities from government and industry associations.

News that nine British small-to-medium-sized businesses will get nearly £1.1 million to test innovative technologies to transform the face of freight and logistics in the UK has been welcomed.

Each get up to £130,000 through the government’s Freight Innovation Fund, to find ways to solve key challenges within the industry.

Money will go towards testing and trialling new technologies, with support from Connected Places Catapult, an agency that works with the transport sector to accelerate innovation.

The fund aims to tackle pressing challenges ranging from decarbonisation and wastage to efficiency and upskilling of staff.
