Aberdeenshire-based Dyce Carriers has opened a new depot at London Gateway, which the company said will strengthen its commitment to delivering ‘first-class out of gauge (OOG) cargo handling services’ across the UK’s key port infrastructure.
The two-acre site is Dyce Carriers fifth depot alongside Aberdeen, Dalgety Bay, Grangemouth and Poole. It will run one truck from the site supported by a network of shunters to move loaded and empty containers to and from London Gateway.
Speaking to Transport News, the firm said the new London Gateway depot ‘will mirror the service offering currently provided at Dyce Carriers’ established Grangemouth facility’, creating a dual-hub operation designed to serve customers across the UK, and that it would generate more jobs in the future.
London Gateway will specialise in OOG lashing and devanning 20- and 40-foot containers and offer services including crane lifts and storage facilities.
Richard Workman is the business development manager. “This expansion represents a significant milestone in our development and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to meeting our customers’ evolving needs,” he said.
“By establishing our presence at London Gateway, we’re positioning ourselves to provide the same exceptional service our clients have come to expect from our Grangemouth operation, but with greater geographic reach and flexibility.”
Directors of the company Jason and Candie Moir said: “When the Grangemouth depot was established in 2019, it marked diversification from the road haulage business we were traditionally accustomed to.
“The team at Grangemouth has worked tirelessly, alongside our haulage arm, to develop a facility that offers both our longstanding and new customers a complete logistics solution.
“Always looking ahead, we identified a growing volume of work coming through London Gateway. As a result, the decision was made to expand our presence in that area, ensuring we continue to provide the high level of service our customers require and expect from Dyce Carriers Ltd. As directors, we are excited about the future of the company and confident in the direction we are heading.”
