Builders merchant Andrew Gray (Perth) has taken delivery of a new DAF XBC tipper from Norscot Truck & Van.
Operating from the quayside in Perth, the new XBC 310 FA 4×2 has a Wilcox tipper body and hit the road in September 2025.
Company boss David Taylor senior was pleased with the new vehicle and that it was already making a big impact on the fleet. He praised the performance of the PX-7 310hp engine and said the PowerLine eight-speed automatic gearbox was the smoothest, most responsive driveline he’d ever experienced.
“The Wilcox body’s low tare weight means exceptional payload capacity, giving Andrew Gray (Perth) Ltd great efficiency on every job,” he added.
David and his wife Carole took on the business in 1980. She passed away two years ago but her legacy of offering support to those less fortunate isn’t forgotten.
Norscot sales manager Michael Anderson supplied the new truck. He said: “DAF say the ‘C’ in XBC stands for ‘Construction’ but really it stands for ‘Carole’.”
Both Carole and David also took on a greater part in the running of the haulage contractors’ side of the business D&R Taylor, which had been founded by David’s great-grandfather in 1857.
In 2027, the business will mark its 170th year.
