The inaugural RTX Scotland at the SEC, Glasgow was formally opened by the Scottish government’s cabinet secretary for transport Fiona Hyslop MSP.
She recognised that road haulage in Scotland was one of the most vital industries in the Scottish economy. “It is an industry that keeps our shelves stocked, gets our goods to market and keeps our communities connected,” she said.
“This industry continues to face significant challenges, from addressing the ongoing shortage of drivers to navigating the impacts of Brexit and meeting the demands of decarbonisation.
“Logistics is at the forefront of some of the most pressing issues of our time, and these challenges are complex, but they are not insurmountable.
“They require collaboration, innovation and above all, a shared commitment to securing a sustainable future for this vital sector and the climate crisis is perhaps the biggest challenge of our age, and as we work towards Scotland’s ambitious target of becoming a net zero nation by 2045.”
