Police have arrested a driver after a lorry narrowly missed a pedestrian and crashed into a building in Edinburgh, writes Peter Brown.
It has been widely reported the vehicle was ‘seemingly unattended’ as it rolled forward and then mounted the curb in Hanover Street (31 March 2025).
The driver was subsequently charged in connection with a road traffic offence.
CCTV footage shows the lorry appearing to slowly roll forward, veering towards the curb as a pedestrian walks along the pavement.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a lorry having earlier collided with a building on Hanover Street in Edinburgh. Officers attended and there were no reports of injuries.
“The driver of the lorry was charged and will be reported in connection with a road traffic offence.”
