A local authority has approved plans for Cambuslang to have its own ‘magic roundabout’ on the Clydesmill Industrial Estate, writes Peter Brown.
Route planners have come up with a five mini-roundabout solution to allow the better flow of heavy goods traffic through the trading estate, which is notorious for its traffic jams.
A local authority spokesperson said: “The one in Swindon has proved that the system works, which is why planning consent was given today.”
Work will begin shortly.
The Magic Roundabout in Swindon, is a ring junction constructed in 1972 consisting of five mini-roundabouts arranged in a circle.
In 2009, it was voted the fourth-scariest junction in Britain.
