The UK’s largest DAF Trucks dealer group Motus Commercials has taken the first step towards relocating its Bellshill dealership to Ravenscraig, after a planning application was given the green light.
Motus Commercials will now push ahead and develop a new 39,000sqft facility for its sales service and parts on a four-acre site in Ravenscraig, Lanarkshire, with work expected to be completed towards the end of 2025.
Managing director of Motus Commercials Matt Lawrenson said: “We’re always aware of the continuing need to refresh and grow the Motus Commercials network, both to keep pace with the success of DAF Trucks and our own role in it, and to provide top-class working conditions for our teams.
“Our current site, at Bellshill in Glasgow, is now too small for the growing volume of work coming to us from Scottish operators, which, together with the ever-increasing emphasis on alternative fuel vehicles, made it important for us to consider a move.
“Ravenscraig offers the space and location we need to support our many customers in the region. While it is too soon to make any definite predictions, it is probable the enlarged site and continued business growth could see new job opportunities once we are settled in.”
The site will encompass a fully equipped 14 bay workshop with: tacho calibration, charging facilities, MOT bay, PDI and inspection bays, parts storage facility and delivery vans, 24/7 DAFaid vans, used trucks and a wash bay.
Offices contained within the development will be the new home for sales and admin. “It is,” added Motus Commercials regional director, Kevin McGinley, “going to provide a top of the range, one stop shop for all our customers’ fleet needs.”
