Lorry Driver Charged After HGV Crash Onto Railway Line

A lorry driver has been charged by police after an HGV veered off the southbound A74(M) motorway down an embankment and onto the railway line near Gretna, writes Peter Brown.

Several lanes were closed while the truck was recovered and all trains between Carlisle, Gretna and Annan were cancelled after the incident at around 8am.

The driver was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary and subsequently charged by police with a road traffic offence.
