Lorry drivers working for Allied Bakeries in Glasgow have secured a significant above inflation pay rise following a deal struck with trade union body Unite.
Unite said around 60 HGV drivers for the bakery at the Sighthill depot would receive a pay increase worth at least 8.5%.
The deal consists of 5% rise this year and then an additional 3.5% in 2025, and was supported by 92% of Unite’s membership. It also means that due to rota changes drivers in alterative years will get an extra day’s holiday on 2 January.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “The Allied Bakeries deal will provide a timely pay increase and extra security for Allied Bakeries HGV drivers.”
