A definitive answer to the long running debate of whether the drum brake is better than the disc brake was the challenge for SAF-Holland Group at a test track in the UK.
The international manufacturer of chassis-related assemblies and components for trailers, trucks and buses was supported by the Malcolm Group at HORIBA MIRA proving ground in Nuneaton.
SAF-Holland acknowledged that ‘both systems have their supporters and each has its own advantages, but recent technological advances and industry trends suggest a shift towards disc brakes’.
The manufacturer produces both braking systems for the marketplace.
