The Volvo FH with turbo-compound technology has been crowned Transport News Top Truck Award 2024, writes Transport News’ chief road tester and Lochmaben Transport’s co-director Stevie Walker.
THROUGH 2023, Transport News put four quality trucks through their paces.
Kicking off was Iveco’s S-Way AS440 (March 2023), followed by the Volvo 460 FH I-Save (April 2023), then the Scania 460R ‘Super’ (May 2023) and finally the DAF XDC 8×4 tipper (December 2023).
I, alongside the panel of judges, concluded that from such a strong field of vehicles, it was the Volvo 460 FH I-Save that edged the vote.
Feedback from the panel of judges cited the fantastic safety features including the lane departure system, the smooth and comfortable ride for the driver, its subtle facelift, and the engine and technology that combine to deliver efficiencies, as the basis for its victory.
