Investment alongside a streamlined product range has helped SDC Trailers cement its place as one of the UK’s leading manufacturers. Kevin Swallow travelled to Mansfield to speak with group president Paul Bratton.
AT LAST year’s Road Transport Expo, SDC Trailers’ stand displayed two products: Freespan and a brick and block platform with two rear-steer axles. Both showcased SDC’s ability for mass production and to make bespoke products too.
SDC Trailers, with manufacturing sites in Mansfield, Southampton and Toomebridge, Co Antrim, is part of a more global operation with its owners CIMC Group a worldwide player within the container, trailer, and tanker industries, with annual sales of more than 110,000 units.
Paul Bratton started out as a welder and fitter and has spent much of his career at SDC Trailers. He returned in 2019 as chief operating officer before being appointed group president the following year.
