AS JOURNALISTS, we spend a lot of time exploring what’s modern in the world of transport. So much so, in fact, it’s easy to wonder how the industry ever turned a profit without an app for most things and a gadget for the rest.
It’s refreshing, therefore, to sit down with a man who does things the old way, and his daughter who appreciates that enough not to destroy it. Time to meet Peter Hughes and Rhian Hughes-Hodgkinson of Accrington’s Earl Transport.
“We started in 1978 with just a rigid and an artic, in Earl Street, Clayton-le Moors,” Peter Hughes told Transport News. “An uncle of mine drove the rigid, and I drove the artic.”
