There are positive signs for the used truck market as stock levels increase, writes Steve Banner.
DEALER STOCKS of second-hand heavy commercials are up! That’s the word from Neil Willis, head of used CVs at Renault Trucks, who added: “We’re not quite back to pre-Covid-19 levels, but there are a fair few vehicles about, and it’s making the market a little more competitive.”
Consequently, dealers are trying to add more value to what they have to offer in order to clinch sales, he said.
“Buyers want a bit of something, and that can involve a bit of an over-allowance on the value of a part-exchange, or subsidising the interest rate on a finance deal,” he commented, which is a useful incentive given the pace at which interest rates have been increasing.
