Renfrewshire based A&D Logistics returns to market with a six-figure deal for 10 Volvo used trucks, and, following the decision to become a Renault Trucks service agent, the workshop is also on the up. Alan Bolsworth junior talks to Kevin Swallow about fleet investment and being an approved repairer.
IT HAS been six years since I first visited A&D Logistics’ new £3.5 million state-of-the-art transport facility in Linwood, Renfrewshire.
Back then Alan Bolsworth junior was the business development manager, while his father Alan and his brother Drew ran the transport business. Alan senior retired in 2020, and Alan junior became managing director of the business alongside Drew.
As part of the succession plan, Drew and Alan junior have developed internally and recruited key people to support the continued growth of the business. He explained: “This has been a key step for A&D Logistics, we have a fantastic team and have management in place who know what we want to achieve, and we work towards the same goal.”
One area that set the business aside from its competitors was its approach to sourcing vehicles for the fleet from the used truck market. With much of the work, although by no means all, through the central belt of Scotland and with mileage averaging 70,000km a year, coupled with an inhouse workshop, it’s a pragmatic and successful ‘tried and tested’ approach.
