ABERDEEN City Council said it would give ‘due consideration’ to the business case to turn Craibstone Park and Ride on the Aberdeen bypass into a ‘not for profit’ truckstop.
It had already ruled out a suggestion by local haulier Dyce Carriers that the redundant park and ride site at the A90/A96 junction be turned into a conventional lorry park, even though it is already equipped with showers and toilets.
An Aberdeen City Council spokesperson said: “Craibstone P&R was obtained through an agreed purchase, with similar conditions attached to that of a Compulsory Purchase Order, which was that the land was taken for use as a P&R site and therefore any future commercial activity on the site might be prohibited.”
However, the spokesperson added that ‘if charges are just to cover costs, then these may be considered’.
