Getlink promises hauliers streamlined border crossings from October 2023

Hauliers could be enjoying smarter, more efficient and faster border crossing for their freight and unaccompanied trailers on LeShuttle, following Getlink’s trial of a new software platform, dubbed Sherpass, writes Carol Millett.

The digital platform, which is open to hauliers and logistics providers, is set to be launched in October this year, following several months of testing with Eurotunnel’s customers using its LeShuttle Freight and unaccompanied trailers services.

Eurotunnel subsidiary Getlink, which operates the truck and passenger shuttle services between Folkestone and Calais, said it has designed Sherpass to streamline the supply chain between the UK and France, helping to overcome the red tape created by myriad customs restrictions introduced as a result of Brexit.
