Renault joined in the decarbonisation debate with a hands-on road show of electric powered vehicles and the offer of an introductory three month package on 16 and 18 tonne erigids linked with a unique E-TECH infrastructure and back-up in place. Alistair Vallance reports on this Renault initiative making electric battery power more appealing for hesitant potential users.A NEW brand name was launched in March to invited road transport operators by Renault Trucks Scotland in an Electric Vehicle Road Show held at the Alona Hotel in Strathclyde Country Park near Motherwell.
Under the banner of E-TECH, visitors toured and drove a diverse fleet of electric rigid trucks and chassis cabs (see sidebar) also attending a presentation outlining how Renault is now offering a unique etruck package to encourage operators to ‘think electric’.
The morning event was the first in Renault’s EV Road Show itinerary that would see the fleet move to Carlisle, then Manchester and across to North East England. A similar EV fleet and presentation circuit ran in parallel in the southern half of England.
