VOLVO has built more powerful gas-powered trucks that can run on liquified biogas and can carry out long distance journeys, while reducing overall CO2 emissions.
Five years ago, Volvo launched its first trucks that could run on liquified biogas, or bio-LNG, a renewable fuel produced from many types of organic waste, including food scraps, reducing CO2 emissions by up to 100%.
The new gas-powered Volvo FH and FM models are getting a higher power level of 500hp, joining the previous 420 and 460hp engines. The gas engines have also been given major technical upgrades making them up to 4% more fuel efficient, together with a new 10% larger gas tank for longer range.
