Rental company LC Vehicle Hire has dipped its toe into the electric vehicle market with company cars and vans, and now it is looking at the next step, trucks.
Kevin Swallow talks to Paul Bumford about fleet investment and customer demand.
IT’S EARLY January 2023 and I’m sat in an office in Manchester with Paul Bumford, sales director for LC Vehicle Hire. We’re discussing the Edinburgh Clean Air Roadshow, which took place at Murrayfield on 18 October 2022, and recounting his trip using an electric car.
The context is several articles in national newspapers by famed motor journalists using electric vehicles and bemoaning their struggle to find recharging points while on holiday in Cornwall during Christmas.
“When I came to Edinburgh, a 320 miles roundtrip, I stopped at Gretna Motorway Services to recharge the car and do my emails for half an hour. In a diesel, the alternative would be drive straight past that and do twice as many emails when I arrived in Edinburgh,” he explained.
