New ADR Rules Now In Place

NEW RULES brought in at the turn of the year mean any business involved in the transportation or handling of hazardous waste now requires a Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA).
Companies must either nominate an existing member of staff to become the DGSA by passing written examinations or use an external company that specialises in providing dangerous goods safety advice.
It comes after changes to the ADR rules on the transport of products classified as ‘dangerous goods’, including oils, paints, acids, alkalis, adhesives and primers.
Failure to comply could lead to an inspection from enforcement bodies and lead to penalties. These can include the company not being able to ship products, or possible site shutdowns.
