The DAF XG, a genuinely ground-breaking truck, claims the Transport News 2023 Top Truck Award.
LAST YEAR, three Transport News road tests stood out from the rest. In the January 2022 issue we put an Iveco X-Way grab wagon through its paces, and in the pages of the June 2022 Transport News we travelled to Sweden for a first-hand experience of Volvo’s FMX Electric eight-wheeler Tridem and an FM Electric tractor (see sidebar).
However, with new road test professional Stevie Walker behind the wheel, the boss of Lochmaben Transport agreed with the panel of judges that the new (and dare we say iconic) DAF XG deserved the Transport News 2023 Top Truck Award.
Launched in 2021, DAF Trucks unveiled three completely new cabs; the XF, XG and XG+. Those latter two are officially the biggest production series cabs available on the European open market, taking the ‘maximum benefit from the new European Commission masses and dimensions regulations’.
