SUPERMARKET chain Booths has made a commitment to lowering emissions across its temperature-controlled fleet with a range of new Carrier Transicold equipment, including three Vector eCool all-electric engineless refrigerated trailer system units mounted to tandem-axle urban trailers from Gray & Adams.
They joined by six new DAF CF 4×2 tractor units fitted with Carrier Transicold’s Eco-Drive power units, allowing the company’s existing Carrier refrigerated trailers to be powered directly by the truck’s engine. Operating off the truck engine, the Eco-Drive can provide 100% refrigeration capacity, even at standard engine idle speed.
Later this year, two 26 tonne DAF CF rigids fitted with engineless Carrier Transicold ICELAND MT systems will also be added. The new assets will allow Booths to operate 70% of its temperature controlled equipment on either all-electric or hybrid electric power.
