IT’S MID-AFTERNOON on a Friday and Tim Wigham is first back in the yard having just reloaded his curtainsided trailer in Carlisle for Monday.
Being first back, he revealed, is unusual. What isn’t unusual is the fact that the boss is behind the wheel.
Tim runs SM&T Wigham. It has a fleet of eight trucks that operate out of Newbiggin, which is on the opposite side of the M6 from Penrith, in Cumbria. He has six full time drivers, three part time drivers and himself stepping in as cover.
