GOOD NEWS was in short supply during 2020 but one positive note was that it was the country’s greenest year on record for our electricity system.
Spring saw the longest run of generating electricity without using coal since the industrial revolution, stretching almost 68 days between 10 April and 16 June.
The National Grid said the highest level of wind generation was also broken several times and solar power set new records for its highest level of generation and its highest share in the mix – 34%.
