Jail appeal refused for trucker who killed motorist

A truck driver who was jailed earlier this year for causing the death of a motorist when he pulled out from behind a tractor has lost his appeal against his sentence, writes Chris Tindall.

Ian Moorhouse was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to contravening the Road Traffic Act while driving a gas tanker near Stirling in Scotland in February 2020.

Moorhouse, then aged 61, did not wait for a clear view of oncoming traffic on the A811 while directly behind a slow-moving tractor and trailer and pulled out in front of Amanda Boag, a 39-year-old mother of four. She died from her injuries at the scene.
