The operator in question wishes to remain anonymous, but we can say that its contracts include transporting liqueur from Scotland to England, usually in a ‘pick-up on day one, drop-off on day two’ format, necessitating an overnight stop.
During one such stay in 2020, its vehicle’s trailer was broken into and more than £20,000 of vodka stolen while the driver was asleep in the cab. It was parked in a secure truckstop with CCTV and a security guard.
