UK manufacturer of specialist axle weighing equipment, Axtec, is solving supply chain issues by redesigning its OnBoard Load Indicator componentry thanks to in-house design.
A previously easy-to-source and inexpensive microchip priced at 80p used in Axtec’s OnBoard Load Indicator became unavailable unless on a 52 week lead time or longer, or priced at an inflated $12 each from unknown suppliers.
However, thanks to its in-house manufacturing capability and technical team, Axtec has re-engineered its product’s printed circuit board in order to use an alternative, readily available microchip at 54p per unit.
