As new trailers continue to roll off the production line, Schmitz Cargobull UK’s Paul Avery is looking to increase numbers and bring more of the assembly process to the UK, writes Kevin Swallow.
BEFORE Christmas Schmitz Cargobull unveiled its first new product from its UK plant.
The S.KO PACE Smart is a fully modular dry-freight semi-trailer designed for UK and Irish operators with market specific features. It was a significant milestone for a company that boasts a 130 year history, because the German manufacturer had returned to the UK.
As joint managing director alongside Alan Hunt (sales and services), Paul Avery has responsibility for operations in the UK.
“We signed the lease in March 2021, and the first trailer ran down the production line on Saturday 9 September,” Paul explained.
