Glasgow Brings Forward LEZ Enforcement

THE implementation of Low Emission Zones in all four of Scotland’s major cities had previously been agreed to commence in June 2024, however Glasgow City Council has recently decided to bring forward its entire LEZ programme to June 2023.
Explained Vincent McInally, air quality and environment manager at Transport Scotland’s Roads Directorate: “The LEZ Leadership Group actually agreed an introduction date of May 2022, with grace periods up to 24 months a matter for the four city councils to consider. Glasgow has now proposed 12 months grace meaning enforcement for all vehicles in the city centre, unless exempt, will be from 1 June 2023.”
This date change really makes Tuesday 18 October 2022 at Murrayfield, Edinburgh the perfect time and place for road haulage and van delivery companies to check out what options are on offer from commercial vehicle manufacturers to ensure penalty-free city centre deliveries. That’s the date for Scotland’s Clean Air Roadshow which will be held, free of charge, in and around BT Murrayfield stadium – 10am to 2pm, including buffet lunch.
Event organiser, Road Transport Media said, now that the LEZ dates have been brought forward in Scotland’s biggest city, our revised October date for the Roadshow will give exhibitors such as CV manufacturers the opportunity to show their very latest emission-free vans, urban delivery rigids and low emission tractor units.
Registration is now open to ensure attendance at Scotland’s Clean Air Roadshow. Simply go online at www.transportnews.co.uk and hit the Clean Air button on the top red navigation bar.
