GEORGE Stewart, who ran livestock haulier RW Stewart set up by his father, has passed away at the age of 86.
He had received the Transport News 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award, which coincided with the firm’s centenary. Even in the weeks before his death on 27 December 2021, he still retained an active role in the day-to-day running of RW Stewart based at Drumavon Farm, Linlithgow, West Lothian.
He was born in 1935 to Robert Stewart, a farmer, and Annie. George had an older brother, Arthur, who died in 1961 and a younger brother Robbie, who passed away in October 2020.
