THE Government has announced a package of measures to support driver recruitment and ease pressure on the road haulage industry.
This includes a consultation on allowing drivers to take one test to drive both an articulated and rigid lorry. This would streamline the process for new drivers to gain their HGV licence and increase tests availability. The off-road manoeuvres part of the test to be assessed by the driver training industry.
The consultation closes at 11.59pm on 7 September.
