Renault Trucks’ return to Highlands and Islands distribution specialists D. R. Macleod proves much smoother than the Scottish Government’s recent management of Scottish ferry operations. John Henderson looks for a bridge over troubled waters.
FIRSTLY, let’s concentrate on the good news. DR Macleod, one of Scotland’s best known Highlands and Islands transport businesses, has re-introduced Renault trucks back into its distinctively liveried fleet.
Supplied by Graham Fletcher, transport solutions executive at Renault Trucks Scotland, the stunning looking Range T High 6×2 pusher axle tractor unit was painted by Courtney & McMillan, with decals courtesy of OPG Fleet Vehicle Graphics.
The 3.9m wheelbase chassis includes Renault’s DTi13 engine rated at 520hp and a 12 speed, direct top, Optidriver gearbox. Delivered through Renault Trucks Scotland’s Bellshill headquarters, the truck is also fitted with a Fontaine fifth wheel and Alcoa Dura-Bright alloy wheels.
