DVSA recently led an operation checking vans and lorries exiting the wholesale fruit and vegetable market in Hounslow.
The vehicle offences related to 14 vans which were found to have either or both mechanical faults and overweight offences, including a van which exceeded its weight limit by 84%.
Enforcement officers also detected four drivers who breached drivers’ hours rules, a lorry which did not have the required operator licence, and a lorry and a van with no vehicle tax.
Nine fixed penalties were issued totalling £2,150, and a van could not return to the road until an illegal tyre was replaced, with three penalty points on the driver’s licence.
