THEORY tests restarted in England and Wales on 12 April and DVSA have issued the following update on how they plan to reduce the backlog.
From Monday 10 May to Wednesday 30 June, opening hours will be extended at most theory test centres. For example, some centres will be open from 8am to 8pm, and some might be open on Saturdays and Sundays. This will create 300,000 extra appointments.
On Monday 12 April, DVSA opened 10 temporary larger theory test centres, creating a minimum of 120,000 extra appointments each month.
Also, DVSA have made a number of appointments available daily at 7am from 12 April at the temporary sites to be booked by trainers or candidates requiring a vocational theory test in England and Wales.
